Havelock North
So we're now in Havelock North, North Island, New Zealand, current home to Peggy Jo and the boys. A really nice area, pretty little town center, but nothing particularly interesting going on. We're still stuck using public computers, so I can't put any more pictures on, but when I do I have some nice swans and mountain views for you. Also some really blurry hills with little white blobs that might once have been sheep, shot from the car on the drive over from Taupo. Oh well. We stayed the night in a beautiful converted farm garage thing, very modern, but encased in a hundred-year-old outbuilding. Pictures of that coming too. We'd like to stay in it longer, it's so pleasant, but unfortunately we're paying a little too much for it to want to stay too much longer. Anyways, if the place you stay is nice enough you never want to leave it, and then you don't see anything. So just one more night before we drive back up to Auckland.

Hi guys, it's great to read about all your travels and oh, so unique experiences! How are the sheep? Is it summer or fall yet? Here in CA it's been in the 70s for weeks, i guess there is no winter, only drought...have fun, and enjoy yourselves! love, Laurie
ReplyDeleteGreat that you're having too much fun! Looks like Kasey and I are flying in to Rome on 3/27-land the am of 3/28 (unless we back it up a day). Are you still there and where are you staying? We take the train to Munich on 3/31 to see the castles and Dachau concentration camp nearby. I know you'll be heading for Croatia sometime around there - do you know exactly when yet? Keep me posted - Love, Auntie

ReplyDeleteIt's summer here, still amazingly hot, and most of the sheep we've been seeing now are shorn (sheared?) and look very peculiar and skinny. Actually, I think the drought is only in the summer, but there has been a nasty one recently. We keep expecting the green hills of memory and instead get tannish brown ones.
